At the top of anyone’s list of most beautiful mountain towns, Telluride lies at the center of some of the best trout fishing in the Southern Rockies. Rising in the 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan range, the cold and clear waters of the San Miguel and Dolores rivers are noted for abundant aquatic insect life and a trout-to-angler ratio representative of remote watersheds in a healthy ecosystem.
Fishing Description
Telluride Angler runs a highly resourceful guide service on four rivers (San Miguel, Dolores, Gunnison, Uncompahgre) with guides that aspire to be top educators and world class hosts with elite knowledge and skill. Our mission is to provide a window into the sport for novice anglers, a springboard for every angler to take their game to the next level, a conduit for exploring the countless angling opportunities in SW Colorado, and to share our love of this place through fly fishing. Finally and perhaps most important of all, we are stewards for our resources and promote the need to preserve what we love.
2024 is the 40th anniversary of the Telluride Angler fly shop and Telluride Outside guide service.
Accommodations and Travel
The town of Telluride is like a fishing lodge with 20 great restaurants. Every hotel, condo and VRBO in Telluride and Mountain Village is conveniently located for fishing with Telluride Outside/Telluride Angler. Feel free to ask our reservations staff for lodging and restaurant recommendations.
Commercial air service is available directly into Telluride, but many airbound passengers use the Montrose airport (MTJ), serviced by several major airlines with a growing number of direct flights from major US hubs including Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago and Denver.
