Welcome to Northern Patagonia
Compelling for reasons that go beyond world class dry fly fishing, Northern Patagonia projects the soul of our sport like few regions on earth. Offering a blend of the familiar with the exotic in a setting reminiscent of the American Rockies, Patagonia features rivers of transfixing beauty, unsurpassed lodges, meals and wine, the highest guiding standard in fly fishing and a transcendent start-to-finish travel experience.
Fishing Description
Sight fishing with dry flies is the diamond at the center of our sport, the untouchable standard, the mother to which we will always return. The haven of cold waters surrounding San Martin de los Andes is collectively one of the finest dry fly fisheries in the world. Water levels and hatches vary dynamically from November through the season’s twilight in late May, but in every month exists the opportunity for the fishing trip of a lifetime.
Fishing the rivers of this region often implies a combination of floating and wading. Anglers need not be experienced, young or strong to enjoy these rivers, but most will spend time both on foot and in a drift boat. Anglers with specific interest or need to float or wade can generally be accommodated by selecting appropriate destinations.
Renowned guide service Traful River Outfitters hosts our anglers at each lodge, providing not only the guides but also ground transportation within the region. Your guides will scoop you up from the airport and return you to the airport, handling every aspect of your trip upon arrival in San Martin de los Andes.
The guiding standard in Argentina is among the highest in the hospitality industry. Bilingual, beginner-friendly, amiable, humble and most of all fishy, the Argentine guiding culture caters to anglers of every ability and travelers of every personality. You’ll never feel more loved, supported and appreciated than when fishing with Traful River Outfitters. Fish with them once and become friends for life.
