Welcome to Mangrove Cay Club
Mangrove Cay Club is the elite lodge on Andros Island and among the finest in the Bahamas. Located in the wilderness heart of the greatest bonefishing destination on earth, the combination of comfort and fishing potential found at Mangrove Cay Club lands it atop the leaderboard of all saltwater lodges.
Fishing Description
The quality of bonefishing on Andros Island would be hard to exaggerate. Famous for light sand flats and air-clear water, the aesthetic experience of hunting bonefish is showcased here in grand fashion. The opportunity to catch trophy bonefish from the skiff or on foot is surpassed nowhere in the world. Mangrove Cay Lodge allows access to the Northern Bight, Middle Bight and Southern Bight from the east coast to the west coast of Andros. Complex flats and the east-west orientation of the bights makes it possible to fish a rising or falling tide all day long. In addition to the Island’s legendary bonefish, adult permit and tarpon are available under the right conditions.
Guides and skiffs: all Mangrove Cay Lodge guides are native Bahamian licensed maritime captains. Highly skilled and with a lifetime of experience on the flats, these guys have a supernatural ability to see fish and a wealth of patience for coaching their clients in pursuit. They run nimble 16’ Dolphin skiffs powered by Yamaha 85 engines, equipped with modern safety and communication equipment. This is a first class operation.
Accommodations and Dining
Fishing the magnificent flats of Andros is no longer a survival experience. Mangrove Cay Lodge was designed to change the paradigm for the Bahamas. Four air conditioned duplex cottages lie along a sand path surrounded by flower gardens and native vegetation. Separated from each other by a thick soundproof wall, each guest suite features a private deck overlooking the Middle Bight. Designed for privacy and comfort, each spacious suite has an oversized bathroom with its own 40 gallon hot water tank, a sitting room and bedroom with two comfortable queen beds.
A short walk from the cabins brings one to the main lodge where cocktails and meals are enjoyed in a convivial atmosphere. The dining area opens onto a large veranda, just a few steps from the handsome wooden dock where our fishing begins and ends each day. Wifi service, men’s and women’s restrooms and a shop for fishing accessories and souvenirs are found in the main lodge.
The dining experience at Mangrove Cay will surpass your expectations. Chef Ikye, who began his tenure at the lodge in 2000, is an accomplished professional who travels in the offseason to enhance his menu inspiration and is frequently asked by guests for his recipes. Entres feature local seafood, often purchased at the lodge dock from fishermen in the community. Bar snacks, delicious appetizers and rich desserts complete a memorable gourmet experience. Ikye is happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and special menu requests. A delicious breakfast is served with coffee made from fresh ground beans each morning. Lunch items are selected by each guest from a buffet counter and packed on ice for the day’s fishing.
